The eBay Advertising team located in Brisbane, CA office is building ad targeting products to connect the largest marketers and merchants with highly targeted consumers across the web, utilizing the commerce data generated from the activity of 100s of millions of visitors to ebay.com and thousands of partner sites.

eBay is looking for a Sr. Systems Administrator as part of the technical operations team, reporting to the Head of Technical Operations of the division. You'll be responsible for the high quality and operational excellence of eBay Advertising's state-of-the-art production environment, infrastructure and high-performance software systems. We have 1000+ servers in multiple data centers across the country.

This team works closely with product development, and designs and delivers superior production architecture, high scalability, reliability and capacity planning, monitoring instrumentation, security improvements, metrics gathering, DevOps, and other Tech Ops related functions.

Strong Hands-on experience with expertise in Systems Administration, Networks, Storage, Virtualization in high volume and distributed technical operations.

•Technical coach on developing and maintaining the Tech Ops infrastructure

Become proficient in understanding how each of the dozens of high performance software components comprising the eBay Advertising's platform operates, and their interdependencies

Drive technical design reviews and provide strong architectural input

Be a team player ready for fast-paced growth and tremendous business expansion

Knowledgeable in technical operations and DevOps (Salt) best practices with 8+ years of experience in the field
Instrumentation, fault tolerance, and monitoring

Willingness to take part in 24/7 On-call rotation

Strong team spirit and track record of successful cross-functional collaboration with product management and development teams on large projects

Expert level experience UNIX/Linux system administration (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.)

Some background in storage, networking and virtualization would be helpful.

Maintaining and troubleshooting Java applications

Performance testing and tuning (OS and Application stack)

Experience in Tomcat and Apache configurations

Nice to have - experience with Hadoop

Minimum 5 years’ experience with at least one of the following high level languages; Bash, Python, Ruby, and Perl

An understanding of security concepts (Access Control, Vulnerability Management, Encryption)

Knowledge of networking concepts TCP/IP stack, OSI model

Monitoring with Nagios, Ganglia, Cacti

Proven virtualization experience with VMware

Firewalls and Load Balancer experience.

Troubleshooting, Triage and Incident Management

Bachelors degree required, preferably in Computer Engineering

Expert level experience UNIX/Linux system administration (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.)

Strong Hands-on technical lead with expertise in Systems Administration, Networks, Storage, Virtualization in high volume and distributed technical operations
