Senior Windows Test Engineer in Portland, OR

10 MONTH CONTRACT

Conducts analysis and quality-control tests to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-user requirements.

Principal Accountabilities:

*Works with business and development teams to clarify requirements to ensure testability

*Drafts, revises, and maintains test plans, test cases, and automated test scripts

*Executes test procedures according to software requirements specifications

*Logs defects and makes recommendations to address defects

*Documents, evaluates and researches test results

*Retests software corrections to ensure problems are resolved

*Documents evolution of testing procedures for future replication

*May conduct performance and scalability testing.

Scope

*Works on the highest level of problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in depth evaluation of various factors.

*Interacts and leads discussions with other testing members, manager, development team, project management, business partners and external vendors/suppliers.

*Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Complexity

*Performs estimation efforts on the most complex projects and tracks progress.

*Plans, conducts and manages assignments, generally involving large, high budget projects and/or involving multiple projects.

*Obtains detailed specification from business users and development to ascertain specific output information requirements.

*Prepares detailed plans for managing cross-testing team dependencies.

*Serves as the testing consultant to managers in the IT organization and functional user groups.

*Mentors team members on all aspects of testing concepts.

*Works with other testing teams to develop integrated methodologies for testing end to-end transactions

Knowledge and Skills

*Possesses and applies knowledge of IT principles and practices.

*Applies knowledge to analyze and develop solutions to highly complex problems.

*Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams to meet business needs.

*Varied knowledge of database, development, system engineering, and networking concepts.

*Advanced knowledge of testing.

*Demonstrated ability to lead large projects or offer highly complex testing solutions.

*Advanced understanding of CMM guidelines.

*Expert diagnostic and problem solving skills.

Experience

*8+ years of professional experience (8 years directly related to I/T or functional area) or equivalent combination of education/experience.

We are seeking experienced Windows Software Test Engineers for our Development Test Team. The successful candidate will be a bright, resourceful test engineer possessing the ability to work in all aspects of system-wide testing. The candidate must be a team player who is able to design, configure and execute complex test plans and test cases mimicking real world customer environments. Candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter who can work well independently and who can interface well with developers, customer support and documentation groups.

Responsibilities:

- Develop Test Plans and test cases for new functionality that encompass all aspects of QA test phases.

- Develop, review and improve existing test plans to improve functional coverage, gaps in prior testing and regressions

- Execute manual testing and automated testing utilizing industry standard tools

- Track and communicate testing status

- Report, track and verify defects found in testing

Requirements:

- Recent experience testing Windows 2012 system or enterprise software products

- Strong Windows 2012 administration skills

- At least 5 years experience in QA testing

- Knowledgeable in industry standard tools

- Well versed in QA test methodologies

- Working Knowledge of iSCSI or FC SAN technology

- Experience in networking and/or clustered storage

- Working knowledge of VMWare and Linux

- Comfortable in a scripting language (python preferred)

- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
