Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
A fast growing Boston, Massachusetts (MA) Software company seeks a Principal Engineer/Architect level individual to play a key role in the development of text parsing technologies. This is a strategic position that will dramatically improve the company's ability to parse high volumes of web scraped data. The Parsing Lead Engineer will work as a leader with the development team building a parsing technology. These systems acquire and process data from the internet and power many critical products. The architect-level candidate will work with operations, product management, analysts and other teams to design and implement new tools and processes, ensuring adoption and effectiveness. The ideal candidate is a capable, current practitioner, and also a strong leader who can take a small development team to the next level.
Responsibilities:
* Develop next-generation parsing systems
* Design new software and processes to support the parsing operations group
* Lead a small team of distributed developers
* Ensure stability of large, high-volume, high-velocity data sets
* Drive adoption of practices that ensure consistent software quality
* Promote agile development process
* Interface with database and analytics teams to define new tools and products
* Work closely with other development teams
* Implement new software tools for importing data, reporting metrics
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelors or higher degree in Computer Science or related discipline
* Experience in technical or team leadership
* Experience with text parsing technologies
* Familiarity with probabilistic modeling, hidden markov models and advanced statistics
* Experience working with overseas and distributed development teams
* Experience with some or all of XML, SQL, .Net, C#, C++ Python, and web scraping engines or services
* Familiar with tools such as Git, TeamCity, JIRA
* Ability to create both technical and non-technical documentation
* Communication skills beyond the engineering group - will be interfacing with product managers, the sales force, etc
