What You Will Do
Support for 80 – 100 SQL Server instances in multiple data centers, including Development, Test, and Production Environment including both physical and virtual servers.
Perform SQL Server installations, configuration, upgrades, and latest patch applications.
Monitor database backup and restore processes, including daily/weekly maintenance jobs to ensure the data availability and work non-business hours for system emergencies, production database releases and data migrations with minimal or no impact to company operations.
Proactively watch and optimize any data replication/ETL processes.
Develop and maintain scripts to automate SQL administration tasks.
Troubleshoot and resolve database issues by optimizing T-SQL Code.
Plan, design and implement the database capacity, physical, and logical modeling/security practice for every phase of application development.
Work with vendors, application support, Infrastructure group and developers to meet the needs of database refresh in development/staging environment.
MS SQL Database development including designing, developing, testing and implementing databases, stored procedures, functions, triggers, indexes, and jobs.
Resolve complex database related issues & outages.
Act as the first technical contact for any query/database performance issues; assist developers and business power users in query requests and enhancements.
Ensure data object naming convention and enforce data integrity.
What Gets You the Job?
3 – 6 years of experience as a member of the DBA team
Hands-on experience in Database Administration field for SQL Server 2005-2014 in both physical and virtual environments
Strong experience with Backups, Restores, DMVs, DBCC commands, SQL Profiler, and PerfMon
Good Knowledge of High Availability, Always-On availability groups, Database Mirroring, Replication, Recovery Models, Policy Based Management, and SOX audit
Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, diskspace, and other resource contention
Familiarity with Performance Tuning and Query Optimization
Experience in Security Administration, Index Management and statistics update
Experience with ELT process and development using SSIS
Understanding of SSAS and SSRS (development and deployment is a plus)
History with 3rd party backup and performance diagnosis and monitoring tools from IDERA and Solarwinds is a plus
Knowledge of Oracle and MySQL database/Architecture/Technologies is a plus
