RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client seeking a Java Software Engineer in Test in Seattle, Washington (WA). Primary focus for this position will be the examination, validation, and testing of software systems for the content management product. The candidate will be working directly with the developers in a small agile group. The candidate will be responsible for understanding and testing all layers of the system: frontend, middle tier, and database. Responsibilities also include designing and building intelligent systems that can exercise various use cases and scenarios. This role will report to the Senior Manager of QA.
Responsibilities will also include:
* Testing strategy development
* Front and back end testing, including REST API testing
* Load testing facilitation
* Requirements and Functional Specifications review
* Interfacing with business units and conducting integration tests
* Troubleshooting integration issues
* Test environment configuration/management
* Test automation and framework
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in field
* 1-3 years of software development and/or testing experience, with at least 1 year experience with web-based applications and database applications
* Experience (2-4 years) with test automation, or programming experience with Java, C#, Python, Perl, or similar languages
* Thorough understanding of the software QA engineering process
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Hands on usage of testing frameworks
* Experience with automated environment deployment and configuration
* Ability to anticipate, identify and articulate problem areas and develop preventative solutions
* Work with a high degree of independence on projects with little or no precedence
* Proven experience in identifying the relationship of bugs to software code
* Passionate about software quality
* Detail oriented
* Experience with SOAPUI and Jmeter test tool
* Experience with Selenium
* Experience with Databases: MS SQL or NoSQL
* Extensive experience with Java Application Servers (Tomcat, Apache, JSP, Servlets)
* Experience with Defect Tracking tools
* Experience with Load Testing tools and practices
* Strong knowledge of testing REST APIs; JSON; XML
* Experience with platform virtualization like VMware preferred
