Role Overview
You will be a key member of the engineering team, expected to lead technical direction in data science / machine learning / analytics for a small team, mentoring team members, and also responsible for designing, developing, and testing software in a multi-platform environment using cutting-edge technologies. You will work with respected industry experts in security research, developers and other teams to ensure we produce high quality products that exceed expectations. This is a challenging and also very rewarding position where unique and interesting projects in security are implemented in order to protect our clients from Internet intrusions.
Role Responsibilities
-Lead technical direction and make technical decisions for the team
-Drive innovation of new features and performance improvements
-Design and development associated with software using a range of applicable technologies (e.g., machine learning, predictive analytics, big data technologies, programming languages, compilers, assemblers, debuggers, other tools) for products used in local, networked or Internet-related computer programs
-Participate in product development in all stages including planning, design, development, testing, implementation and post deployment support
-Manage software built and implemented as a product, using best-in-class development process/lifecycle management
-Work with the team to develop, maintain, and communicate current development schedules, timelines and development status
-Review requirements, specifications and designs to assure product quality
-Develop and implements plans and tests for product quality, scalability, performance assurance
As a managed security provider, Dell SecureWorks expects its employees to understand and apply commonly -known security practices and possess a working knowledge of applicable industry controls such as NIST 800-53. Employees will be expected to acknowledge their security responsibilities in writing prior to gaining access to company systems. Employees will be required to maintain a working knowledge of local security policies and execute general controls as assigned.
This position is located at our offices in Atlanta, or Providence, RI. Possibility for remote work for a senior-level experienced candidate.
Requirements
-Demonstrated experience with technical leadership, including decision making and architecture choices; excellent written and verbal communication skills; project-oriented with ability to work with minimal day-to-day direction; highly motivated and willing to work in a team environment; willingness to take on projects under deadline
-Demonstrated experience in innovating new products or features and driving performance improvements to existing products, with proven development, design, documentation and review experience
-JAVA programming experience; working understanding of application containers, J2EE services and associated technologies
-Technical knowledge and understanding of distributed systems
-Experience with relational databases /enterprise database solutions
-Strong understanding of GNU/Linux
-Understanding of current technologies including Open Source technologies
-Experience with data science techniques, machine learning algorithms, or automated analytics of high volumes of data
Preferences
-Information security knowledge
-Familiarity with the MapReduce paradigm is desirable
-Experience with the following:
-Working in a geographically distributed development environment
-Source control systems (Subversion)
-Unit testing tools and frameworks such as JUnit
-XML, concept, transformation, tools (XSD, XSLT)
-Design and development of Web services is desirable
-Apache Hadoop and related projects (Hive, HBase,Zookeeper, etc.)
-12+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
