Job Description:
Senior Systems Programmer candidates with five years + of almost "expert" level UNIX / C, "C" development experience, exposure to the full software development life cycle, expertise in programming with UNIX / Linux, strong low level technical and programming experience, working knowledge of development tools such as debuggers, profilers and tracing utilities, experience with IPC and hands on multi-threading experience, ideally with P-threads, scripting experience, e.g. Perl, Python or Korn shell, some C++ or Java and compiler & linkers experience with knowledge of database engines.

The selected Senior Systems Programmer candidate will join the company's systems programming team. The team is responsible for building the software infrastructure framework to support the company's core products. This includes real time financial market data streams, proprietary database systems, communication libraries and much more. Day to day tasks involve development and integration of new features, working on projects to improve the scalability and stability of the technology and troubleshooting / debugging the production environment to minimize failure impact. For a candidate with the experience and aptitude for team leadership, this role can include a leadership component, but exceptional individual contributors are welcome as well.
Qualified Senior Systems Programmer candidates will have strong low level technical and programming skills, proven excellent problem solving skills and an appreciation for the scope and impact of their work. This will include:
- Five years + of almost "expert" level UNIX/C, "C" development experience with exposure to the full software development life cycle
- Must have expertise in programming with UNIX / LINUX
- Strong low level technical and programming experience
- Working knowledge of development tools such as debuggers, profilers and tracing utilities
- Experience with IPC
- Hands on multi-threading experience, preferably specifically with P-threads
- Proven excellent problem solving and multitasking skills, with a logical and pragmatic attitude
Other desirable skills include:
- Scripting experience, e.g. Perl, Python or Korn shell
- Some C++ or Java
- Compiler and linkers experience
- Knowledge of database engines
