RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client seeking a Director of Backend Engineering in New York, New York (NY).

Position Overview:
The ideal candidate is responsible for all aspects of technology including front and back-end engineering as well as quality assurance. The successful applicant will work closely with solutions architects solving technical issues, and defining the technical direction of the company going forward. The position interacts with all other members of technology team including, BA's, PM's, Designers and Developers. The candidate will be managing a team of talented, creative and motivated engineers. The candidate will be charged with ensuring the continuous delivery of best in class, responsive web applications for the clients.

Duties:
* Hire, train, mentor and manage team of Backend Engineer
* Oversee progress of various development projects, assigning duties and allocating resources to ensure high quality and on-time performance
* Act as key technical resource helping to solve technical issues
* Developing future technology strategy and architecture decisions
* Performing technical analysis and identifying best practices and key success metrics

REQUIREMENTS:
* Past experience managing development teams
* Strong past technical background as Lead Developer or Architect
* Continued interest in modern technology and trends such as mobile, mobile first design, new open source tools and frameworks, API architecture and automation
* Ability to lead team to acquire new technical skills, with technology and new techniques
* PHP expert
* Experience with large-scale professionally used frameworks, Drupal, Zend, Symphony2, etc
* Interest in the merits of emerging technologies
