Job Description:

This position will create and support services used by eBay to power commerce for millions of transactions around the world. Our group enables interactions between front and back end systems which provide key differentiating features on the eBay Platform Use your expertise with J2EE, Web Service development and database design to power commerce and enable next-generation features as part of a high visibility and high impact organization.

eBay is looking for a Java engineer in Portland to help implement important web services which provide critical functionality in the eBay platform. Education

MS in Computer Science or a related field
8 or more years of experience in software engineering

Qualifications

Strong Experience in J2EE Technologies building complex, scalable and high performance web applications
Experience building Restful/SOA web services, design patterns, OO concepts, data structures, algorithms, XML/JSON, and Web applications and technology
Strong understanding of OOP, data structure, and algorithms
Working experience with REST Web Services
Working knowledge in source control such as git / clearcase, maven
Experience with database design, table creation and SQL scripting with Oracle or My SQL
Experience with agile development methodologies
Experience in No SQL database and big data system like Hadoop, HBase, Mongo, Cassandra etc. is a plus
Experience in Mobile technology is a plus
Experience with full stack or mobile technologies a plus
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

Work closely with architecture, engineering, product, QE and operation teams to ensure that the solution meets business needs with respect to functionality, system quality, realistic implementation schedule and adheres to development principles and product goals
Participate in design discussions, code reviews and project related team meetings.
Develop prototypes for the business and technology strategies quickly.
Develop technical & domain expertise and apply to solving product challenges.
Design and develop highly scalable, reliable, extensible and maintainable Restful services that support both Mobile and Web applications
