RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client seeking a Linux / Unix Administrator in Whippany, NJ.

Summary:
The System Administrator will be responsible for the 24/7/365 operational support and proactive maintenance of infrastructure systems in a multi-platform mission critical environment. This position requires extensive experience and a high level of technical understanding of the technology under the scope of the role. This person will be responsible for providing operational support, proactive maintenance, break/fix, troubleshooting and active participation in root cause analysis. Upon transition of infrastructure systems from the Engineering team, the Systems Administrator will be responsible for reviewing, understanding, adhering to and maintaining run books, knowledge base articles, design documentation, configuration parameters, and installation/support procedures. This person must have a functional understanding of disaster recovery between multiple data centers. This person will be responsible for identifying operational issues and challenges and making recommendations to the direct manager and the Engineering team regarding stability and efficiency. The individual will participate in the on-call rotation for 24/7/365 after-hours and holiday support.

Essential Job Functions:
*Collaborate and partner with engineers to develop implementation parameters and plans
*Implement, deploy and maintain infrastructure systems following the detailed design and architecture diagrams, adhering to standards and best practices
*Responsible for the care and feeding, support and maintenance of infrastructure systems, including patch management, platform upgrades at the direction of Engineering, and any other support required keeping the technology and Infrastructure systems stable, healthy and available
*Provide guidance and peer leadership to the System Administration I and II
*Stay current on all technologies within the scope of the role

REQUIREMENTS:
*Bachelors of Science degree or equivalent experience
*7 + years professional experience as a Systems Administrator responsible for configuring, implementing, deploying and supporting infrastructure
*Intermediate to extensive experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Solaris systems
*Intermediate to extensive experience with SPARC systems
*Intermediate to extensive experience with VMware
*Experience with storage systems and clustering
*Experience with backup and recovery solutions
*Experience with production change management policies and procedures, rigorous documentation standards, separation of duties, etc
*Experience with testing Disaster Recovery strategies across multiple datacenters
*Experience with following policies, rules and regulations as they pertain to IT Governance
*Excellent communication skills are required (both verbal and written), correspondence and meetings with internal customers will be common
*Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills for delivery to IT, senior management, business units and clients
*Highly motivated, self-starter who can take direction and does not need micro-managing
*Innovative individual who thinks outside of existing constraints and can bring new ideas and fresh thinking
*Ability to analyze problems, propose solutions, and drive issues to resolution
